Antique Market and Festival in Shipshewana

Shipshewana, IN -

The Shipshewana Antique Market will be this Saturday, August 7, from 7am-4pm, at the Antique Gallery, on State Road 5, across from the Shipshewana Flea Market. The Antique Market is a semi-annual event, held the first Saturday in June and August. The August event is combined with specials and festivities throughout town to comprise the town-wide Antique Festival on both Friday and Saturday.

At the Antique Market, nearly 175 vendors set up in the grassy areas, under the big top, around the winding sidewalks, and inside the Trading Place Antique Gallery. The vendors will be offering a wide array of quality antiques including: primitives, refinished furniture, toys, pottery, glass, books and much more. Food is available on the grounds and throughout town, and admission is free.

Event chair, Chuck Haarer, of the Antique Gallery says, "this is an enjoyable event, and it brings several thousand people to town. It's a nice sized show, where you can view all the vendors, and then have time to spend in the shops in town. People say they appreciate the quality of the show, with all items being from 1960 or older. We have a nice mix of primitives and more refined pieces."

Several businesses will be featuring vintage cars and tractors this weekend. Yoder's Department store will be hosting members of the Hupmobile Club on Friday from noon until 4pm. Members of the Elkhart Vintage Auto Club will be displaying their cars in the green strip between Yoder’s Shopping Center and the Antique Gallery from 10am to 4pm. A number of antique tractors will be on display at Dad's Toys on Saturday. The world’s largest collection of Hudsons, located in the Hostetler's Hudson Auto Museum in the Shipshewana Town Center, is open daily 9am to 5pm.

Many of the stores in Shipshewana are offering events and specials throughout the weekend. Visit www.Shipshewana.com for more details. Most stores open 9am-5pm.
