Countryside Cruisin'

Join your personal step-on guide and begin your Countryside Cruisin’ where your stops will include an Amish noodle market, Amish Quilt shop, Amish Buggy Shop, or sit in on a Cooking Class/Demonstration, and much more. Visit with an Amish family and learn their quilting secrets while the men on board take the opportunity to build a birdhouse with an Amish crafter while the women learn cooking secrets. Along the way, view some of the beautiful Quilt Gardens in bloom with 10+ gardens landscaped in different designs. Great photo opportunities available along the way!

Pancake Mix frlom the Greenfield Mills in LaGrange County

Cruisin’ through the Countryside stop off at one of our many Amish Cottage Shops (choose from a list of many). Learn the history of the Amish Culture and visit with the locals. For the photographer in the group there will be several photo opportunities. Take in the sites as you cruise on down the highway to Greenfield Mills, Inc. is one of the few hydroelectric flourmills still around. It is Indiana’s oldest commercial water-powered flourmill. It was bought by Henry Rinkel in 1904. The year 2004 marks our 100th year of producing quality old fashioned flour and pancake mix made by the Rinkel family

Enjoy a “Thresher’s meal” at an Amish home located along the peaceful countryside of Shipshewana/LaGrange County an experience your group is sure to enjoy. Visit with the family and learn some cooking secrets.

Take in the sites of the Midwest’s Largest Flea Market with over 1000 vendors gathered together to sell their wares. May thru October Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Shop the downtown stores of Shipshewana with over 100+ unique shops lining the streets. Visit the Davis Mercantile with 4 floors and 24 shops all under one roof. Experience hands-on the art of pretzel making at JoJo’s Pretzel Shop the old fashion Hardware and Department store at Yoder’s Shopping Center; a popular stop for groups of all ages.

The Menno-Hof Mennonite and Amish Museum

Tour Shipshewana’s pride; Hostetler’s Hudson Auto Museum with over 50 beautifully restored Hudson Automobiles. Take a step back into time and tour the private collection of Eldon Hostetler with over 48 antique cars shined and placed in their different eras. Hear the story of how he grew up Amish and fell in love with these unique motor vehicles.

Hear the story Amish-Mennonites while touring the Menno-Hof Interpretive Center where history is decidedly hands-on, taking you and your family on a journey through the unique history of the Amish and Mennonite cultures. More than 24 display areas take you on a journey through Amish and Mennonite history.
