Summer

Summer along the Amish Backroads is filled with the sweet taste of ice cream, the sounds of flapping linens hung out to dry, the feel of cool lake water against your skin, the scents of fresh fruits and fully blossomed flowers and the bright greens of grasses and leaves and growing gardens.

Grab your bathing suit and spend the day at the beach—warm sand between your toes and then the plunge into the cool water. Over 70 lakes dot our landscape and offer a refreshing, scenic change of pace on a warm summer day. Or bring your rod and tackle and spend the morning reeling in pike, perch, bass or walleye. In fact, LaGrange County boasts four of the less than 20 stocked Walleye lakes in Indiana—Wall Lake, Pretty Lake and Fish & Royer Lakes.

When the summer heat leaves you craving something cool and creamy, be sure to stop by Amish Frozen Custard & Soft Serve Ice Cream for a big scoop of delicious, old-fashioned frozen custard.

Hop on your bike, feel the breeze on your face and join in the Amish Land & Lakes Bicycle Tour. Explore the Amish Backroads from a different perspective as you work your way through the beautiful countryside and quaint towns.
